Residents of Knoxville will have a chance to vote on the construction of eight new tennis courts and a full-sized outdoor basketball court while also lowering their property tax.
Proposition A will be added to the school board ballot for residents to vote on and will be used to increase the district’s Physical Plant and Equipment Levy which would pay for the tennis courts project. The increase in the levy will be counteracted by decreasing retiring school district debt which will lower property taxes for Knoxville residents. Superintendent Cassi Pearson tells KNIA/KRLS News the ballot will include legal wording and she wants voters to know that Proposition A is the tennis courts and basketball court project and not be confused by the legal language. With the proposed tennis courts to replace the current skate park in front of the high school. Knoxville City Manager Aaron Adams wants residents to know a new skate park is part of the Youngs Park Master Plan which included four sand volleyball courts, a rope climber and a splash pad.
