A Knoxville resident took part in the Fly Tying Competition at this year’s Iowa State Fair.

The competition has been developed and sponsored by the Hawkeye Fly Fishing Association with support of the Department of Natural Resources. There are four categories: dry flies, wet/nymph flies, streamer flies, and open as well as three divisions: expert, adult and junior. Larry Niday of Knoxville finished 3rd in the Expert Division Dry Fly Category as well as 3rd in the Wet Fly/Nymph Category. Niday would take 1st place in the Open Category and 2nd in the Streamer Category.
