The Marion County Rural History Buffs 6th Annual Bus Tour will be held Thursday, September 21st.The tour will begin at 9 a.m. and will run until 4 p.m.
The tour will take history enthusiasts through areas of southwest Marion County stopping at historical spots along the way. Cost is $60 per person for the tour and time is still available to reserve a spot by contacting Sandy Agan at 641.891.4981 or 641.842.5966 for tickets.

9:10 Leave Marion County Extension Office.
9:15 Arrive at Red Rock Line sign, north side of Pleasant St directly across from Graceland Cemetery. Speaker, Craig Agan 10 minutes.
9:30 Arrive at Lincoln School on 92nd St. ½ mile south of Hwy 92. Speaker: Carl Nollen, 5 minutes. The former Eden Methodist Church is near here, worth looking at for its architecture as drive by.
9:45 Arrive at Stickle Bridge on 70th Ave. at White Breast Creek. Speaker Jim McCoy, 10 minutes. Mulky Mill was near here & is noted on the sign also.
10:15 Arrive at Nepas Store site, s.w. corner of Hwy S45 & Perry Dr., Dave Ritchie, speaker, 12 minutes.
10:30 Arrive at Danville Store, 1589 Hwy S 45, less than 1 mile north of Nepas. Building still on site but not signed. Speaker Charlotte Shivvers, 5 minutes.
10:40 Arrive at Star Post Office, s.e. corner Newbold St & 50th Pl. Speaker Charlotte or Thelma Stull, 5 minutes.
10:50 Arrive at Franklin Center School site, Newbold St, 1 mile w. of S45. Speaker Doran Van Rheenen, 10 minutes.
11:10 Arrive at Pleasant Ridge School site, at T intersection of McKimber St & 20th Pl. Speaker Helen Boertje, 5 minutes.
11:25 Arrive at Springdale School & Church sites, Nixon St. & 20th Pl. Speaker, Miles Anthony, 10 minutes.
11:45 Arrive at Caloma town site, n.w. cor. Perry St. & 20th Pl. Speaker, Thelma Stull or Helen Boertje, 5 minutes. 1 mile south is the Caloma School site, s.w. cor Pioneer St. & 20th Pl.
which can be pointed out as we drive by as well as the Caloma Pioneer Cemetery, ½ mile east on Pioneer (dirt road).
At the top of the hill at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery on 20th Pl. is a nice view to the south & southeast.
12.00 Arrive at Germantown, Buffs sign at Rutledge Pl. across the road & a little north from St. Paul Lutheran Church, 2002 20th Pl. Speaker, Ancil Borchert, 10 minutes.
12:15 Arrive at New Chicago, Story St., ¼ mile east of 20th Pl. Speaker, Nancy Dittmer.
12:30 Arrive at Bauer Catholic Church for lunch. 1 hour.
1:45 Ar Newbern. We found Colleen Greuble & her husband, Mr. Babcock, and had a nice visit with them.
2:20 Arrive at Cloud General Store & Post Office site, Virginia St., ¾ mile east of Hwy S45, top of the hill just west of the railroad overpass. Speaker, Carl Nollen, 5 minutes.
2:35 Arrive at Columbia. Dessert stop, Community Center. Speakers: John Pierce, Columbia & McCorkle Hardware, Fred Agan, Columbia School, Sandy Agan, Columbia Methodist Church.
3:30 Arrive at Gosport. Drive by Gosport School (still standing), turn right on 103rd Ave. to Elm Tree Park Civil War Memorial site. Large plaque on boulder right alongside road.
On the way back to Knoxville on Hwy 14, drive by New Albany School, another Red Rock Line sign on 115th Pl at Hwy 14, & Spring Hill School
