The City of Pella celebrated the retirement of their longest-tenured employee Monday.

Code enforcement officer Steve Bennett has worked in the role for different city departments for nearly 45 years, and a reception was put together to recognize his efforts. Bennett also worked as a liaison between the Pella Police Department and Pella Fire Department.

He will continue to serve as a volunteer firefighter.
