Jessica Epping, 30 of Melcher formerly of Knoxville was injured Friday night as part of a three vehicle accident east of Webster City at mile marker 144 on Highway 20.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, at approximately 7:30 p.m. Friday evening an eastbound 2005 Buick Lacrosse driven by Katie McAllister of Oyens, Iowa was cut off by another vehicle causing McAllister to lose control of her car, crossing the median into the westbound lane of traffic. A westbound 2009 Ford Escape driven by Jerry Epping of Des Moines struck the McAllister vehicle causing Epping’s car to overturn and left the roadway. Another vehicle, a 2012 Mazda CX9 driven by Verlyn Yoder of Kalona struck the driver’s side of the McAllister car and came to rest. Jerry Epping and his passengers Penni Epping and Maddi Epping both of Des Moines and Jessica Epping of Melcher were transported to Van Diest Medical Center for treatment of their injuries. The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Department and the Kamrar EMS Department responded to the accident scene assisting the Iowa State Patrol. The accident remains under investigation.
