Tyler Olson intercepted two Coe passes in Dutch territory in the fourth quarter, sealing the Central College football team’s 30-19 victory yesterday in a game heard live on 92.1 KRLS.
The Dutch never trailed, and used three John Alberts field goals and two Blaine Hawkins touchdown passes to build a 23-12 lead at halftime.
The Kohawks scored on their first drive of the third quarter to make it a one score game, and then forced a Central punt. On the ensuing drive, Tate Jensen picked off a Quentin White pass for the first turnover of the game, and on the next play Hawkins hit a streaking Sam Markham wide open behind the defense for a 49-yard Central touchdown.
As Coe tried to rally in the fourth quarter, they missed a field goal and Olson nabbed his two interceptions to ice the game. Also coming up big on defense was Sam Norgaard, who racked up 22 sacks, the fifth most in Central history.
The Dutch are 4-3 on the season and 3-2 in the Iowa Conference. They have their bye week next Saturday and will return to action on October 28th at home against Loras.
