Numerous local dancers earned high marks when competing at the Iowa State Dance and Drill Team Association solo competition in Newton this past weekend.
The six Knoxville High School Dance Team representatives included Raeghan Breazeale, Jayette Carter, Lane Franck, Maddi Graves, Anna McDonald, and Kaydi Rankin. Breazeale and Lane were recognized for their high scores and received Division I ratings, with Lane also placing 9th in Class V.
Caroline Henry, Natalie Henry, Emma Anderson, Erica Nossaman, Journey Reynolds, and Brynn Vander Beek of Pella Forte performed as well, with Reynolds placing 7th in Class VI and Nossaman earning a Division I.
Pleasantville had seven soloists earn Division 1 Superior Ratings as well, including Taryn Brent, Tessa Wadle, Payton Sheets, Paige Busick, Taylor Ripperger, Payton Bumgardner, and Emma Padellford. Brent placed 6th, Padellford placed 8th, and Ripperger place 9th to earn trophies.
Maria Schirz, Jocelyn Gritters, and Megan Eveland of Pella Christian competed as well, with Schirz and Gritters earning division one ratings.
Katelyn Bakkalar and Makinzee Nichols of Twin Cedars also competed, as did Karsin Jenkins, Maddy Ladehoff, Allison Stafford Katie Henkenius, Alexis Kuecker, and Morgan Beener of PCM.
