Some of the best offensive players in Iowa High School volleyball reside in Marion County.
The Iowa Girls Coaches Association released their All-State volleyball teams, and for the second straight season, Pella’s Emily Holterhaus was a first-team selection. Holterhaus racked up her 1,000th career kill this year and led class 4A in both kills (583) and kills per set (5.72). Natalie Clayberg was an honorable mention, as she was 22nd in 4A in kills (285). Kara Wichhart fed both of Pella’s top hitters with her 936 assists, 3rd best in the class, which earned her honorable mention as well.
Pella Christian’s Bekah Horstman was a 2nd team All-State selection in 2A. Horstman was 14th in the class with her 4.09 kills per set.
Horstman, and Pella’s Holterhaus, Clayberg, and Wichhart were also all-district selections. Pella Head Coach Catie Brand was also named the 4A Southeast District Coach of the Year for leading the Lady Dutch to a third straight state appearance.
Pella Christian’s setter Emma Huisman was recognized in 2A All-District, as she was ranked 14th with her 722 assists.
