One person has died in a plane crash north of Oskaloosa in Mahaska County.
The Mahaska County Sheriff’s Office reports emergency crews responded to 2082 210th Street at approximately 2:20 p.m.
A preliminary investigation incidates the plane hit a power line, but officials have not determined why the aircraft was flying low.
The pilot’s identity is being withheld, pending notification of family.
The Federal Aviation Administration is assisting with the investigation, and the Iowa Medical Examiner’s Office will perform an autospy.
Oskaloosa Fire, Mahaska Health Partnership Ambulance, Mahaska County Emergency Management, and the Iowa State Patrol assisted.
