Pella put up a great fight, but dropped a 39-31 decision to Dallas Center-Grimes last night in high school wrestling.

Coach Joe Burch was proud of the way his guys performed on senior night in front of the home crowd.

“Our guys just battled tonight, and the dual seemed close from the start all the way to the finish. We had some open weights which kind of hurt us, but it was a really fun dual.”

Pella had three open weights, but won six of the eleven contest matches, including pinfall victories by Lane Rodamaker, Cole Bisbee, Ashton Messer and Luke Roose.

The Little Dutch drop to 5-9 and 0-4 in the Little Hawkeye Conference. They’re in action tomorrow at the Williamsburg tournament.
