The Pella Christian girls and boys basketball teams have learned their potential opponents on the path to Wells Fargo Arena.
For the seventh-ranked girls, their class 2-A regional bracket has been released.
They’ve received a first-round bye, and will play the winner of North Mahaska and Colfax-Mingo on Valentine’s Day. Montezuma, who they beat earlier this season, is a likely semi-final opponent, while a ranked showdown against number ten Cascade looms for a birth in the state tournament.
The third-ranked Eagle boys don’t know the bracket, but they do know who stands in their way.
Centerville, Albia and E-B-F are potential district final foes, while football nemesis Iowa City Regina and Highland are possible sub-state opponents. None of the teams that Pella Christian would play before state are ranked, and the Eagles project to be double digit favorites in all of their matchup leading to the Well.
