The PCM Mustang girls’ and boys’ basketball teams got a split in Green County Monday night.
The girls won easily 67-29 and the boys fell 80-60 inside the Greene County high school gym. The girls were led on Monday by freshmen Regan Freland who hit four three pointers and finished with 20 points on the night. The win for the Mustangs pushes their win streak to six in a row and a 15-3 overall record. In the boys game the Mustangs would hang tight with Greene County only trailing by five at the end of the 3rd quarter 58-53 before the Tigers would go on a 20-0 run in the 4th to win the game. The Mustangs drop to 9-7 on the year and will turn right back around to face South Hamilton tonight inside the PCM high school gym. The Mustang girls will look to keep pace with Nevada tonight and set up a match up with the Cubs in Nevada on Friday that could determine the Heart of Iowa Conference champion but first they need to get past the two win Hawks of South Hamilton. The Mustang boys will try to end their three game skid as they take on a South Hamilton team that is at the top of the Heart of Iowa Conference standings. The Mustangs and Hawks will tip off starting with the girl’s game at 6 p.m. with the boy’s game to follow.
