Recently Congressman Dave Loebsack made a stop at the American Legion Post 632 in Melcher to award Vietnam veteran David Tickle with service medals he did not receive before being released from the Navy in 1970.

Tickle, who served three years in the U.S. Navy from 1967 to 1970, was awarded with the Vietnam service medal with two service stars which he earned for two deployments to Vietnam. Tickle also received his honorable discharge pin, meritorious unit ribbon, and the national defense medal. Tickle tells KNIA/KRLS News he was never given his awards before leaving the Navy because he was just sent home after Vietnam without being formally discharged.
