The Knoxville City Council on Monday approved an amendment to rezone 401, 409 and 413 East Main Street in Knoxville.

The rezoning will allow for a potential development of a four story, 27 unit apartment complex to be built on the lots. City Manager Aaron Adams tells KNIA/KRLS News with the council approving the amendment the next step for potential development lies in the hands of the private developer. Adams says the developer has begun the process of purchasing the properties which was held up during the process of amending the zoning ordinance. Adams adds, as of now the city has not received any formal submissions such as a site plan for the potential project.
