Students at Knoxville High School packaged over 50,000 meals for Meals from the Heartland throughout the day yesterday.
Nearly every student at Knoxville High School was involved in the process, as each grade was scheduled for an hour of assembly line packing. Each food package is rice and soy based, and is able to feed up to six people one meal. Knoxville FFA participant Megan Moore tells KNIA/KRLS News the project felt especially good because she has seen poverty firsthand in the Dominican Republic, and FFA participant Mickayla McGill tells KNIA/KRLS News it felt great to watch their organization bring the entire school together for a good cause.
The event was brought to Knoxville High School as a public service opportunity for the Knoxville FFA, who hope to turn it into an annual program.
