A bill State Representative Greg Heartsill authored has made its way through the Iowa House of Representatives with bipartisan support.

The bill pertains to civil asset forfeiture and how it pertains to the DNR. Heartsill tells KNIA/KRLS News if any of your equipment is seized by the DNR and there is no conviction, you get your property back. Another part of the bill is that if your equipment is seized by the DNR and there is a conviction, there are stronger regulations on how the DNR classifies equipment and makes an accounting of the equipment sold at auction more readily available to the public. Another bill passed with support from Heartsill was to help hold Managed Care Organizations accountable during the state’s transition phase from public to private health care options.
