The Pella Area Community and Economic Alliance has been working with the City of Pella to determine the best way forward in establishing an internet utility in the community.

PACE Alliance Executive Director Karen Eischen tells KNIA/KRLS News the need for connectivity has reached a critical point for the business, industry, and residential sectors alike.

She says a survey completed last year showed the community supports increasing internet access, and the Pella City Council has made expanding high-speed internet access as one of their key strategic priorities for the next two years.

At this week’s meeting, the council scheduled a special election on Tuesday, May 1st, for residents to determine if they will allow the city to move forward with establishing a potential utility. Hear more about the PACE Alliance and their involvement with the project on today’s Let’s Talk Pella.
