The Pella Police Department is looking to better educate the public about what they do as the Citizen’s Police Academy returns later this spring.

Officer Shawn Veenstra says the purpose of the program is to allow residents to have a better understanding of what they do and build a better relationship between police and the people they serve. Veenstra says they will offer instruction on a wide range of topics dealing with law enforcement.

The eight-week classes start on May 9th, with participants meeting on Wednesday evenings from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in the Public Safety Training Room on Liberty Street. Applications are available at the Pella Police Department at the corner of Main and Liberty Street.
