A rural Pella woman was sentenced to probation, fines, and restitution after being found guilty of six counts of theft of varying degrees.
Court documents show 25-year-old Melissa Mason was a Certified Nurse’s Assistant in Pella arrested for stealing six rings valued approximately at a combined $13,500 from six different residents in the retirement community. Police say that Mason admitted to investigators that she stole the rings, and had sold three of them in Knoxville and turned the rest over to police. Mason faces a deferred judgement and is on probation for three years, with civil penalties included. If Mason violates her probation, she faces 20 years in prison.
