Motor Inn Auto Group of Knoxville presented a check for $1,990 to the Marion County Sheriff’s Department yesterday to use towards their K9 unit.

The funds were raised from $10 taken from every regularly priced oil changes at Motor Inn earlier this spring. Marion County Sheriff’s Deputy Isaac Short, who has been training with the K9 unit in Des Moines tells KNIA/KRLS News the sheriff’s office is getting a black lab named Dallas as a drug and tracking dog, and that the two are getting along really well because he has a great personality.

“He likes people, but he wants his ball more so were working on that. It’s easy when you have a good dog, so I haven’t had to do a lot of work. I think he’ll get along with everyone really well and I think the community will really like him”

Dallas and Deputy Short are still in training, and will become available in three weeks.
