Day one is in the books at the 2018 Iowa High School State Boys Golf Meet in Marshalltown and PCM is in a good spot heading into the final day for the class 2A tournament.
The Mustangs shot a 313 (+33) in the first 18 holes to rank third out of nine teams. They are just 11 strokes off the lead, as Kuemper Catholic shot a 302 and Des Moines Christian had a 308. Noah Lanphier positioned himself to compete for a state title, as he shot a 73 (+3) that is just two shots off the lead. Jared Tigges of Kumper Catholic is at the top of the rankings with a 71. Other scoring for PCM was Dayton Boell with a 77 (+7) to tie for 12th, Jackson Thomas with 79 (+9) to rank 19th, and Elijah Sperflsage with 84 (+14) in 37th. Reed Worth and Andrew Van Ryswyk had non-counting scores of 85 (+15) and 88 (+18), respectively.
The second and final day gets started at 8 a.m. this morning at American Legion Memorial Golf Course in Marshalltown.
