Despite key chances in game one and a close game two, Pella’s baseball team could not find a W against Indianola, falling 9-4 in 9 innings and 4-2 in the second contest heard live on 92.1 KRLS.

Rallying back from late deficits, Pella had the winning run 90 feet away from home plate twice in the first game in the 7th and 8th inning, but could not get him home, and a five-run 9th gave the Indians the win.

In a closer game two, Pella Freshman Ryan Mace was called into duty after an injury suffered by starting pitcher River Baker, and went four innings and struck out seven. However, the Dutch offense could not keep up with Indianola pitching, and the bats fell quiet over the last four frames.

The Pella Softball team was also swept by the Indians, falling 3-1 and 10-0 in five innings.

Baseball’s record drops to 2-5 overall, while the softball team is now 4-4, and the softball team heads to the Oskaloosa Invitational today, and both return to conference action at home against Norwalk Monday.
