Throughout the course of a season every team is bound to have ups and downs. While the PCM baseball squad has seen their share of both, one constant has been the play of pitcher Trevor Bistline. The sophomore hurler has quietly emerged as one of the top pitchers in the Heart of Iowa Conference and Monday’s performance against Pella solidified just that.
Going up against the highest scoring team in the Little Hawkeye Conference, Bistline made it look easy against the Little Dutch. In an 11-0 win, the sophomore tossed seven shutout innings of five hit ball and one walk in just 80 pitches. That outing propelled his season ERA to a minuscule .74 that ranks second in the conference with a minimum of 15 innings pitched. Head Coach Jeff Lindsay tells KNIA/KRLS Sports keeping the ball down and hitting spots is the reason why he is having a successful year. Lindsay adds that being an underclassman they have brought Bistline along slow, but when his number is called he is making the most of opportunities.
The Mustangs (8-10) will look for continued success tonight when they host Baxter.
