The Pleasantville softball team picked up right where they left off in the regular season, as the Trojans blew by Pekin in the quarterfinal round of the class 2A regionals winning 13-4.
The Panthers drew first blood plating a pair of runs in the first to take a 2-0 lead. The Trojans chipped away with a run in the bottom half and took the lead in a big way with six runs in the third on the strength of six hits. They tacked on in each of the next three innings to provide plenty of insurance. It was a hit parade for the Trojans, as they finished with 22 knocks led by Faith Vanderhart and Sydnee McKinney with four apiece and two runs batted in. Amber McKinney, Andie Sowers, and Makenzie McGriff all added three hits. Abby DeJoode nabbed the win in the circle going all seven innngs giving up eight hits and four runs. The win moves Pleasantville to 21-10 and sets up a meeting with area school Pella Christian on Friday night in the semifinal regional round. The Trojan baseball team had a tough time against Southeast Warren falling 10-0 in a Pride of Iowa Conference regular season matchup. The Warhawks flipped the script from early in the season, as the Trojans had a mercy rule win in their first meeting last month. Kyle Amendt led the offense with a pair of hits. Pleasantville is now 21-10 and will host Interstate-35 tomorrow.
