Pella emergency services are thankful for the support of area first responders after an EF-3 tornado ravaged Vermeer Corporation and a fire Saturday morning.
Fire Chief Doug Van Gorkom tells KNIA/KRLS News over a dozen agencies responded to the scene without hesitation when Pella’s services were determining the scope of damage and injury. Van Gorkom is thankful to all who lent a hand and provided needed resources immediately after the storm and cleanup.
Among the agencies responding to the tornado damage in northeast Marion County: Pella Fire, Pella Ambulance, Pella Police, Marion County Emergency Management, Marion County Sheriff’s Office, Mahaska County Emergency Management, Jasper County Sheriff’s Office, Iowa State Patrol, Iowa DOT, Pella Electric, Pella Public Works, Knoxville Fire and Rescue, Knoxville Township Rural Fire, Pleasantville Rescue, Melcher-Dallas Fire and Rescue, Monroe Fire and Rescue, Reasnor Fire, Sully Fire and Rescue, New Sharon Fire and Grinnell Fire, among other volunteers and agencies.
