When the Pella football team opens the non-district season, there will be a set of familiar opponents for the Little Dutch to kick off what they hope is a fifth straight bid to the UNI Dome.
Pella will make the trip to Dallas Center-Grimes in non-district action in Week One. While the two have never shared the same district, they have played each other five times since the beginning of 2014, with the Dutch winning four of those matchups and the only loss in week two in 2017, snapping a 42-game winning streak that started in 2014. They later defeated the Mustangs in the playoffs last fall.
As for the rest of their non-district schedule:
– Pella hosts Mt. Pleasant in Week 2, who they played most recently in 2011 and are 3-1 all-time against;
– Travels to conference rival Norwalk in week 3, a program the Dutch are 19-1 against all-time, including 16 straight wins and 11 consecutive seasons of head-to-head competition; and
– Welcomes Carlisle in Week 4, a program Pella has a 13-2 record with, with 14 of those games coming in the last 15 years.
