As the weather begins to turn colder, Marion County Public Health wants to inform residents that the flu vaccine is starting to be delivered to local pharmacies and healthcare providers.
Judi Van Hulzen with Marion County Public Health tells KNIA/KRLS News even if you don’t think you are at risk from the flu, you should still get the vaccine because it protects not only yourself but people that you come into contact with that could be at risk and can’t receive a flu shot such as infants or the elderly. Van Hulzen also said that she recommends the high dose vaccine for adults over the age of 65, as they are at a higher risk, and if you have any questions about the flu vaccine to always talk to your doctor or a healthcare professional.
