Iowa Hawkeye, Iowa State Cyclone, and Knoxville Panther fans braved the wet conditions and packed the Knoxville square Wednesday afternoon and evening for the annual Cy-Hawk tailgate hosted by THRIVE Knoxville.
Residents were treated to yard games, an eating contest, a best-dressed contest, a dance routine, and a dunk tank among many other forms of entertainment. Katrina Nelson with THRIVE tells KNIA/KRLS News the event being a success despite the weather conditions throughout the day makes the organization proud to have put it together.
“It makes us feel really good to have put this together successfully after months of planning, and we want to make this and other events like this be fun on an annual basis. So this was a great kickoff and we can just build on it from here”
Nelson also said the next THRIVE event will be Living Windows in November. RVTV broadcasted live from the event. The KNIA/KRLS Big Red Radio was on location playing music and making announcements, as well as hosting a live broadcast of the Marion County PM Sports Page.
