Kids of all ages are picking out costumes and getting ready for Beggar’s Night; and area towns and cities have set the dates and times for the evening.
Most have chosen Tuesday, October 30th as their Beggar’s Night; this includes Knoxville, Pella, Pleasantville, Monroe, Prairie City and Melcher-Dallas. All of those will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Bussey will have its hours on Wednesday, October 31st from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Knoxville Assistant City Manager Heather Ussrey tells KNIA/KRLS News police are urging children and adults to be cautious that evening.
“Children, as well as drivers; there’s kids, children running around to different houses and stuff, so pay attention when it’s dark,” Ussrey says. “I believe the police department and fire station are usually open during Beggar’s Night and encourage children to come and visit them as well at the stations.”
She also reminds parents they should accompany their children, and make sure they are wearing costumes which don’t obscure their vision.
