The Pella City Council awarded bids for several projects at their meeting Tuesday.
A resolution was approved to award a roughly $1 million contract for Phase Two of the Pella Sports Park Project with Fields for Our Future, and in it, a provision with the two entities splitting the cost on a 50-50 basis, up to $520,000 for the city. The phase includes two new ballfields. Bids were also accepted for the Brook Circle electric distribution conversion and northside distribution circuit project, as well as numerous asphalt overlays planned for several city streets in the coming construction season, likely beginning in early 2019.
Additionally, the council approved a 28E agreement with Marion County to resurface the Volksweg Trail along Idaho Drive with proposed cost split, the first reading of an ordinance amending parking regulations in the Central Business District, and an urban renewal plan for the proposed Webster Park Housing Development on Main Street. Also, the council delayed the start of constructing the Vermeer Trail until spring of 2019 due to weather-related issues delaying the beginning of construction.
