Congressman Dave Loebsack hit the streets, joining an officer from the Knoxville Police Department on a ride-along to see the town up close.
He joined Officer Darrel Brown on a tour of the city, to see up close both the good and the bad points of Knoxville through the eyes of someone who sees both on a daily basis.
Rep. Loebsack tells KNIA/KRLS News he often joins officers on these tours to see what problems they and their cities are facing.
“People think ‘small town Iowa…what could possibly go wrong?’ But they have a lot of issues here, just like big cities do, whether it’s drugs or domestic violence or any number of things,” he says. “So that’s what I’m hoping to hear about and learn from the officer here about that.”
Loebsack says he has had one or two scrapes while riding with officers on patrol before, but isn’t worried about being with them on the street…because he knows he’s in good hands.
