The season is officially underway for the Pleasantville girls’ basketball team, as they travel northeast of Des Moines to face off with Saydel tonight.

The Trojans are coming off of an 11-12 season last year while the Eagles were 4-19. Head Coach of Pleasantville Aaron Fichter tells KNIA Sports a team finds out a lot about themselves in the first couple games of the year.

“You know you are going to have some first game nerves but how do you calm those nerves and what kids are going to take leadership roles. How clean are we with the ball and are we winning those hustle plays? Those are the questions that you look to be answered right out of the gates.”

The season gets underway tonight at 7:30 p.m. at Saydel Community Schools.
