The Indianola Indians girls basketball team fell in their season opener to the Southeast Polk Rams 63-30.

Neither team scored for the first three minutes of the game, but the Rams broke the game open after the floodgates opened taking a 9-1 lead and continued to blow it open from there. Lauren Blake led the Indians with 14 points, while Kendall Clatt put in 7. Indians Head Coach Jeff Jansen tells KNIA Sports going up against the #1 team in the state isn’t easy, but he thinks it can work to the Indians advantage

“I couldn’t be prouder of our younger inexperienced girls who either have not played a varsity game or played varsity minutes in a game like this. No doubt our program got better from the game tonight and we’re gonna learn from it and more forward.”

The Indians fall to 0-1, and will take a break until November 30th when they start conference play against Norwalk.
