A widespread snow storm is expected overnight Saturday into Sunday throughout most of central Iowa.
According to the National Weather Service, initial forecasts are calling for five to eight inches of snow by Sunday evening, numbers that could change over the next few days. Gusty winds between 30 to 40 miles per hour are also expected, likely causing dangerous travel conditions. Rain will most likely change to snow by mid-morning, with the heaviest accumulations anticipated in the late morning to early evening hours.
