Families with young children in need of an extra helping hand for the holidays will participate in the 2nd annual Holiday Heroes program.

Pella Police Lt. Paul Haase tells KRLS News they are partnering with the Pella Fire Department and Schuring and Uitermarkt to co-host the event, which allows kids to shop for their families with a firefighter and officer. Haase says support from the community has allowed this year’s event to expand to 30 children.

Holiday Heroes will be held on December 11th. Several other local businesses will help on the night of the activities. Those who want to contribute to the Holiday Heroes program can do so by making a donation at the Pella Police Department.
