A Knoxville man is facing charges of providing drugs to a minor, after the youth’s mother told police her son had been given marijuana.

19-year-old Dei Monta Ke Shawn Banks was arrested by Knoxville police, after the December 5th incident. The 14-year-old youth’s mother told police they had been smoking marijuana in the apartment building at 2000 West Madison Street.

Police say the victim told them he smoked it in his apartment with Banks; but Banks reportedly said they had actually used it outside the building. Banks says the victim gave him money to buy the cannabis.

He’s charged with a drug distribution violation to a person under 18. The apartment is across from Knoxville High School and the Knoxville Performing Arts Center.
