Shorthanded due to injury, the Pella Christian basketball team picked up a needed win at home Thursday night, cruising by Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont 57-24.

Senior Emma Huisman didn’t play and post player Isabella Baugh saw only a few minutes on the floor, but for one night, their presence wasn’t needed as much, as younger Eagles stepped up. Chloe Morgan scored 18 points and grabbed four steals, Allison Van Gorp scored 16 and nabbed six boards, and Mary Kate Bandstra dished seven assists and had three steals of her own.

“Mary Kate played a really good game distributing the ball and getting our offense going,” Engbers says.

Pella Christian will wrap up 2018 in Grimes tonight, when the girls and boys play the Fillies and Mustangs for a girls-boys twin bill. Cole Cook and Wynne Veenstra will call the action on the KRLS2 stream at KNIAKRLS.com, with pregame starting at 6 p.m.
