The Pella Rural Fire Department battled a barn fire in rural Mahaska County Friday night.

Firefighters, along with Pella Ambulance and the Mahaska County Sheriff’s Office, responded to a call at approximately 9:20 p.m. of flames coming from a barn at 2115 Bayard Avenue. Pella Fire Chief Doug Van Gorkom tells KNIA/KRLS News the barn was fully engulfed by the time crews arrived, and is a total loss.

He says no cause has been determined, and nobody was injured.
