Local high school jazz bands earned high marks for their performances in the Iowa High School Music Association state contest Saturday.
Ensembles from Pella, Knoxville, Pleasantville, and PCM joined other regional schools at Pella High School for the annual festival. Pella Jazz I and Pella Jazz II received division I “superior” ratings–the highest possible score, as did Oskaloosa and North Mahaska. PCM, Pella’s third ensemble, Pleasantville, and Oskaloosa II all earned division II excellent scores. Knoxville performed, but did not receive a ranking.
