Each of Knoxville’s schools is adopting the Teacher Leadership Team concept for their faculty; Northstar Elementary gave a presentation on it at the most recent Knoxville School Board meeting, and tonight West Elementary will have its turn.

This model involves breaking up teachers into teams by grade level or specialty; representatives of each team meet on a regular basis, and they would pass on information about what other classes are doing to their respective team members. It’s expected that the sharing of successful concepts from one classroom with others will help strengthen the overall curriculum.

West Elementary will have its presentation at tonight’s school board meeting; the ones from Knoxville High School and Knoxville Middle School will be scheduled in during the next few weeks.

The board will also hear a request for an overnight trip for the boys varsity basketball team; they are scheduled to play at Iowa City High School on February 2nd, and have been invited to attend the Iowa Hawkeyes game the previous evening.

The meeting convenes at 5:30 p.m. at the district’s main office.
