State Senator Amy Sinclair says the school reform measures put into place over the past couple of years are showing general improvement for most of the school districts she represents.
As chair of the Senate Education Committee, Sen. Sinclair has overseen a number of the changes brought about under the Every Student Succeeds Act and how they have filtered down to local districts.
She tells KNIA/KRLS News the effort to improve teacher performance has translated to better performance by students; and having leadership teams and teachers acting as mentors to other instructors has led to more instructors staying in the classroom.
“We’ve seen teachers be more satisfied in their work, we’ve seen more…teacher retention; and those were all issues where we wanted to make sure where we were advancing that,” Sinclair says.
“I would say definitely we’re seeing some improvement related to that school reform, and so I’m excited to see that moving forward.”
