Tonight’s Knoxville City Council meeting is expected to include the council finalizing strategy for the Veterans District.

The city has been working on plans to obtain the old Veterans Administration Campus and redevelop it. The process was delayed by the federal government’s partial shutdown, which saw key personnel at the General Services Administration placed on furlough –  the group the city has to deal with.

Also up for discussion is scheduling of a public hearing on the city budget for the coming fiscal year, to be held at the February 18th meeting; and the council will consider an amendment to its ordinances covering fire and rescue services, which would include a new schedule of fees.

Tonight’s meeting begins at 6:15 p.m. and can be heard live on AM 1320/FM 94.3/FM 95.3 KNIA.
