Weather has again forced Knoxville High School to call off the Coaches vs. Cancer doubleheader basketball games — this time, for good.
For the third time, severe weather forced the Knoxville School District to cancel the annual fundraising basketball games against Chariton; and with no more make-up dates available, it will not be possible to hold the event this year.
So the planned events will be spread out over two days; on Friday night, the girls basketball team will wear pink uniforms for their game against Van Meter. There will be cookies and ice cream for sale, and girls basketball coach Jim Uitermarkt says he is hoping for a good turnout.
Then on Saturday, the silent auction will be held during the boys basketball game against Grinnell; events such as the Chuck-a-Duck promotion, the 46 second sprint, the quilt raffle and the senior girls hair cutting will be held that evening. The JV boys play at 6:15, with the varsity boys taking the floor at 8 o’clock.
