Utility company crews were called out twice on Wednesday to repair equipment knocked out by the severe weather — both on the same power line, affecting many of the same customers.
MidAmerican Energy says the first outage came at about 4:30 p.m. It happened on West Bell Avenue in Knoxville, north of Highway 5/92; crews arrived on the scene and found a piece of equipment had failed. Power was knocked out to 29 customers, but was restored by 6:50 p.m.
Then another outage occurred in the same general area, this time affecting areas south of Highway 5/92; crews found out a different piece of gear on the same line had failed, affecting 54 customers…some of whom had lost their electricity the first time around.
Those repairs were finished and power brought back on line by 11:30 p.m.
