The Indianola School Board approved an extension of the school year to make up for lost education hours due to weather. As of Monday evening, the district is scheduled for 1068 remaining hours of education, 12 hours less than the 1080 hours mandated by the state. Superintendent Art Sathoff tells KNIA News what the new schedule means for the district.

“The board did approve two days being added to the school year, so the end of the year will be June 3rd as of now. That got us even from Monday night, but with Tuesday being canceled we are now again 8.8 hours short of the minimum.”

The board also voted approval for Sathoff to continue to work with interested parties on how to deal with further delays. For more information on the schedule extension, tune in to today’s Let’s Talk Indianola.
