The Indianola City Council meets in regular session this evening due to the President’s Day holiday. The council will consider a resolution terminating the agreement between the city and Kappelman Appliance regarding a dangerous and dilapidated property, hear an update on the city codification project, consider nominations to the Parks and Rec Commission, and hear a report on the status of the community development department. City Manager Ryan Waller tells KNIA News the goal for the community development aspect of Indianola’s master plan is to get the community involved as much as possible.

“Public engagement is going to be a critical factor. What we want to hear from the community is when you look at the square, what does it look like? What do the benches look like, what does the sidewalk look like? Those types of things we want to make sure we are taking care of so we can plan projects and dovetail projects on during the courthouse project. We want to make sure we are prepared so we can enact the communities vision on what we should be.”

The council will also go into closed session to end the meeting. The meeting begins at 6pm in the City Council Chambers at Indianola City Hall.
