The Warren County Democrats held their annual soup supper and off-year caucus Monday evening, headlined by special guest California Representative and Presidential Candidate Eric Swalwell. Swalwell tells KNIA News members of the Democratic Party in Warren County are telling him healthcare is among the most important issues facing the country today.

“I think we need to not only have universal coverage, but also invest in cures. I think one of the best things we can do as a country is to take on big challenges, and unite to find solutions. I see us in this incremental rut, where we govern crisis to crisis and shutdown to shutdown. I don’t think anything could be more uniting and give us better hope for cures than to have a trillion-dollar cures in our lifetime program. Say in 10 years we are going to put the best scientists to work, create new jobs, extend the quality of life, and hopefully if we find cures, to bring down the cost of healthcare.”

After the soup supper and guest speaker, the party held their off-year caucus, electing representatives to serve as Central Committee members for a one-year term.
