The PCM Mustang boys basketball season came to an end Tuesday in a 51-44 loss to Van Meter in the Class 2A District 10 final. The Mustangs and Bulldogs would go back and forth in the first half with PCM leading by two after one quarter of play. A questionable no call with time winding down in the 2nd quarter allowed for a Van Meter strip and and easy lay up to put the Bulldogs up by one at the break 21-20. The Bulldogs would establish a five point lead to start the third quarter before the Mustangs would come charging back capping off the third quarter with a deep three from senior Reed Worth to give the Mustangs a 32-31 lead going into the final quarter. The Bulldogs however would be too strong down the stretch as their senior 6 foot 9 inch Ryan Schmitt would score 12 of his 17 points in the second half to lead the Bulldogs to the seven point victory. PCM ends their season at 13-8 overall and will say goodbye to seniors Reed Worth, Andrew Van Ryswyk, Isaac Telfer and Jordon Devries. Van Meter will now move on to face Pella Christian in the substate final in Knoxville on Saturday.
