Yet another round of snow is impacting south central Iowa, which has city, county, and state plow drivers once again working long hours to clear off area roads.
Iowa DOT Winter Operations Administrator Craig Bragfrede says it has been one of the busiest seasons in many years for the department.
According to Bragfrede, staff can be on the road as long as 16 hours, and they try to give those drivers as many opportunities for rest as they can. Bragfrede continues to ask for patience from all residents as they hit the roads, as plows are slow moving for the purpose of maximizing treatment of the highways and safety of the operators.
Iowa DOT plows clear interstates, U.S. Highways, and State Highways, and often have well over 500 trucks operating during winter storms.
