Scoring in 16 of the 19 events, the Central College men’s track and field team placed fifth at the American Rivers Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday. With 90.5 points, the Dutch were fifth in the nine-team field. Wartburg College was first with 177 points. Will Daniels added two more all-conference performances to his weekend. He was the 60-meter dash runner-up and also took second in the high jump.

Courtney Kruthoff won the high jump to give the Central College women’s track and field team its second individual title of the American Rivers Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday. As a team, Central was fifth with 74 points. Nebraska Wesleyan University won the team title with 181.5.

Mary Gray blitzed the field in the pentathlon for the second year in a row on Friday night. Kiki Pingel of Pella was right behind Gray in the pentathlon, taking second with 3,144 points. Pingel was a top-three finisher in all five disciplines, including winning the 800-meter run with a new personal-best time of 2 minutes, 25.22 seconds to finish the event.

Miranda Kruiswyk, Sarah Steffensmeier, PCM Alumna Rachel Peter, and Rebekah Beard also ran a leg of the 4×800-meter relay team that placed sixth in 10:20.97.

A select few athletes may return to Waverly again next weekend in an effort to qualify for the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships on March 8-9 in Boston, Massachusetts.
